घर-घर,
बस्ती-बस्ती
Door to door, basti to basti.

Our volunteers take awareness, learning and care to the people of Indore's bastis and nearby villages, on foot and face to face.

What we do on the ground

Most of our work happens in the street, at people's doors and in village community centres. Student volunteers from NSS units do it with us.

Street play (nukkad natak)

Our volunteers, with NSS student volunteers, perform nukkad natak in bastis around Indore. The plays take on child marriage, addiction and other social issues, and draw children, mothers and neighbours into the conversation.

The problems we take on

Each programme answers a problem we see in the bastis and villages.

  • Child marriage

Street plays that show families what an early marriage takes from a girl, and ask them to let her study.

  • Addiction

Sessions and plays on alcohol, tobacco and drugs, for young people and their families.

  • Malnutrition

Talks with mothers about healthy food that a family can afford.

  • Silence about growing up

Health and hygiene sessions where adolescent girls and boys can ask what they need to know.

  • Children falling behind

Learning support for children in slums and villages, so they stay in school.

  • Elders and children left out

Visits to old age homes, and activities with children with special needs.
